I can’t say enough good things about Barbara Sullivan. I stumbled across her by a lucky accident a few years back when she was the listing agent for a property I wanted to check out, and even though I didn’t like the property, I liked her so much that I decided to hire her as my buyer’s agent.
Since then, she has helped me with three real estate transactions, and working with her has been an absolute delight. She is knowledgeable, experienced, and hard-working, and gives her clients a level of personal detail that goes above and beyond what most realtors offer. But most importantly, she’s a genuinely nice person who truly cares about the people she works with. She offers the kind of honesty, candor, and kindness you’d expect from a family member—not a person you hire to complete a transaction for you. While I’m thrilled that she helped me find a home, I’ll miss our regular phone calls and texts!
A few examples of why you should hire Barbara:
- She is exceptionally good at marketing properties. Her words and photos helped my condo stand out among several other units for sale in the same building. It sold within a few days, whereas some others on the market—even ones that were priced lower—took months to sell. Even though she’s not part of a big brokerage, she’s well connected, too.
- Her experience as a buyer’s agent helped us craft the most competitive offer in a seller’s market, so we didn’t miss out on a dream home. Before that, in a buyer’s market, she helped me craft an offer that made sure I didn’t overpay.
- She puts the client first. I’ve had family members work with realtors who “took over” the process. By comparison, Barb truly listens and will take your input into account. If you don’t like a photo, she’ll change it. If you want to word something specifically in an addendum, she’ll ask you for input.
- She’s excellent with technology. We started a home buying process while out of state and during the earliest days of the COVID pandemic, so she FaceTimed us from showings and sent us drive-by videos of properties with commentary to let us know whether they were worth traveling to see in person. Every document, etc. was done online.
- She’s honest. When she saw issues with a property, she let us know—and she knew what to look for. We avoided a few hastily-done flips that way. She also gave us great advice that kept us from overpaying during a bidding war. It never felt like she was trying to sell us a house.
- Her perseverance meant that she put in hours of work tracking down documents, in addition to hounding attorneys, listing agents, and finance companies so that deadlines would be met even during a historically busy market. Weekends, evenings—it didn’t matter. And because she’s so likable, other folks would go out of their way to help her and, by extension, her clients.
- She’s adaptable. Even when our home search extended outside of areas where Barbara did most of her business, she did her research and used her existing expertise. If she were licensed on Mars, I’d recommend her to Martians.
Long story short: Barbara has a rare combination of professionalism, expertise, and warmth that really matters when making a transaction as significant and personal as buying a home. You should hire her.
